Sue Lord - Artist
Sue is fascinated by water, in particular the sea - its transience, colours and movement. One of her challenges has been to evoke these in paint. Before 1979, she taught English and Drama in Hackney, London, and became renowned for her exceptional stage designs. Since then she has lived in Polperro and was head of Art at Looe Community School for many years and continued her involvement with ambitious stage productions. The final one was creating an opera with forty year-eight students to be performed at Covent Garden, London. Since retiring, Sue has been absorbed in painting and has also created three Community Murals. The last one in 2017, 'Pollination' , was part of a joint project with Polperro primary school and reflects the significance of ecology in Sue's work.
