Steve Morton - Potter/Ceramicist

Steves interest in ceramics was ignited at grammar school, using a simple kick wheel. A four year course at Birmingham College of Art followed in Three Dimensional Design with a first class honours degree in Interior Design, a subject which he continued as a career  in practise, specialising in commercial licensed leisure and hotel design for the next 30 years. Moving to Looe in 2010, after 40 years, Plymouth College of Art he refreshed his interest and technique in earthenware and reduction stoneware and he continues to develop and learn with every turn of the wheel. The influence of simple shapes, textures and colours of the sea and geology of the Cornish coast are a constant source of inspiration with the fire, unpredictability and excitement of Raku work now a major interest.
