A Giant Community Mural
As a crucial and exciting fundraising project for Polperro Arts
Foundation. Sue Lord created a design especially for the
2011 Festival in June.
Locals and visitors, of all ages, were encouraged to paint one
of the 180 squares which make up the mural. Working from a
small 8cm square, painted by Sue, people painted an
enlarged version on to a 24cm board and Sue worked
alongside them throughout the week.
No-one knew what the whole picture was like until the final
square was velcroed to the big mural.
Sue was interviewed by Radio Cornwall on the 5th August
2011 about the mural, the interview may be listened to here.
The mural is now finished and was unveiled at The British
Legion in Polperro by our very own Lord Mayor Tony White on
Sunday September 4th 2011 and is now permanently on
display at Polperro Primary school.
A 'Postcard from Polperro'
This was the theme for one of our festival exhibitions
and was the latest in many postcard exhibitions that
we have held, the first in 2001 was 'Put your heart into
Art' on a Postcard.
The winning entries are shown here aswell as all other
Other exhibitions included "History and Mystery" a
limited edition of cards by PAF members, and several
Historic Postcard exhibitions on the various festival
themes (many thanks to Ian and Margarate Webb who
supplied the cards from their collection of Polperro
Postcards) These were enlarged and exhibited by us
on Big Green.
We have designed and produced the artwork
for the Polperro Festival programme since
